Alexander Technique is traditionally taught on a one-to-one basis. In a lesson I focus on your individual needs and learning the Alexander Technique will involve becoming aware of and changing long-standing detrimental habits of movement. It relies on the active participation of you as a pupil. The number of lessons you take will be discussed and depend on your particular needs and goals. I use gentle hands-on guidance and verbal explanations to help you find ease and balance within yourself during everyday activities such as sitting, standing, walking or bending. Through experience and observation you gain increased awareness, enabling you to change long-standing habits, such as poor posture, and to function more efficiently. In time you will be able to apply your new understanding and skill to all your activities and eventually bring awareness and poise to anything you do. The Technique involves no specific exercises, requires no special equipment, and can be practiced wherever you are. It is suitable for people of all ages and levels of physical fitness.

Learning the Alexander Technique is like learning any skill, such as playing a musical instrument or driving a car: you learn with a teacher who has been experienced in the subject to teach you the new skill. An Alexander teacher has trained full time for three years and is therefore is very experienced in the subject and will help you to incorporate the principles of the Technique into your own understanding and every day life.
